Job description

A garment merchandising manager’s responsibilities include:

  • Managing orders: Overseeing the entire order process, from confirmation to payment processing
  • Communicating with clients: Understanding client needs for design, quantity, quality, and delivery
  • Working with suppliers: Identifying and collaborating with suppliers to source materials and ensure timely production
  • Planning production: Creating and managing production schedules to meet order deadlines
  • Ensuring quality: Implementing quality control procedures to ensure garments meet or exceed quality standards
  • Managing costs: Negotiating pricing and cost terms with suppliers to maximize profitability
  • Delivering on time: Coordinating transportation logistics and monitoring shipping schedules to ensure on-time delivery
  • Staying up to date: Keeping up with current fashion and quality requirements

  • Cost Management: Negotiate pricing and cost terms with suppliers to maximize profitability while maintaining competitive pricing for clients.
  • Timely Delivery: Ensure on-time delivery of garments to clients by coordinating transportation logistics and monitoring shipping schedules.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate records of orders, invoices, production reports, and shipment details to facilitate smooth operations and financial tracking.
  • Trend Analysis: Stay updated with fashion HR Trends, market demands, and competitive pricing to make informed decisions and recommendations to clients.
  • Problem Resolution: Address and resolve any issues or disputes that may arise during the garment production process, including quality concerns or delivery delays.
  • A bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising, textiles, business, or a related field is typically required.
  • A strong understanding of the fashion and garment industry, including textile materials, production processes, and market trends.
  • Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication skills to liaise with clients, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Negotiation Skills: Strong negotiation skills to secure favorable terms with suppliers and ensure cost-effective production.
  • Project Management: Excellent project management skills to coordinate multiple orders simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Problem-Solving: The ability to identify and resolve issues quickly and efficiently to prevent disruptions in production or delivery.
